This is a dual level posting. The position will be hired at either the Assistant Athletics Director or the Director level. The hiring manager will make the determination based on qualifications and experience. The Director of Sports Nutrition (Football) must be able to translate the latest scientific evidence into practical application.  They will be a lead expert in providing nutrition counseling, menu planning, and medical nutrition therapy to 100+/- football student-athletes. Serve as subject matter expert for dietary supplements and evaluation for safety, legality, efficacy, and cost. Participates in policy and procedure creation for various nutritional areas such as eating disorders, food safety, food handling and more. Communicates with various entities across the Athletics and University communities to ensure best nutritional practices. Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulating agencies. Responsible for managing the Football Sports Nutrition budget.

P3 Requirements (waiting period for vesting)

• Master's degree
• Registered Dietitian (RD) licensure  
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
• 4 years experience

 

P4 Requirements (immediate vesting)

• Master's degree
• Registered Dietitian (RD) licensure  
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
• 6 years experience

What We’re Looking For:                                 

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in one-on-one nutrition counseling, sports nutrition, eating disorders, budget management and procurement, as well as food service and menu development.

                 
 
Skills needed:

• Excellent communication skills with both individuals and groups.  
• Ability to motivate constituents, including students, athletes, sport performance and wellness staff, as well as administrators. Ability to work independently.
• Competence in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Understanding of athletes and their training. Knowledge of various behavioral change strategies.
• Knowledge and experience with dietary supplementation for athletes. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Experience with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry.
• Knowledge and experience using various types of communication platforms to reach constituents.

• CSSD (Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics)
