Role: This position will be the Assistant coach for the Women's Basketball Program. This position will assist the Head Coach in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Concordia University's Irvine Women's Basketball program. Coaching includes assisting the Head Coach in instruction of all skill development practice and game management, academic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach. This position adheres to the policies set forth by Head Coach and Athletic Director, as well as Concordia University Irvine, the PacWest Conference and NCAA.

Duties :

Coaching:

• Provides consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and assist in practice and game management
• Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed by Head Coach.
• Teaches individuals and groups of student-athletes specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season.
• Teaches sport specific techniques as directed.
• Evaluates recovery practices/training goals and makes recommendations to enhance performance objectives for each student-athlete.
• This position is available to coaches and student-athletes before, during and after practices and events.
• Focuses on the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of training for team as well.
• Will help guide and mentor new graduate assistants and managers in the basketball program
• During the 23-24 school year practices will be from 6a-9a. Your discretion will be used to best use the listed times for student-athlete development at the direction of the head coach.
• Will be on time and attend all practices/games unless previous arrangements have been made with Head Coach (Head Coach Discretion)
• Failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions.

Recruitment:

• Coordinates and oversees the recruitment of student-athletes as directed by the Head Coach.
• You will actively recruit all prospective student-athletes in your event group area.
• You will be given appropriate resources to build the roster to this level.
• Prepares and calls all recruits managing an ongoing relationship through active communication.
• Attends off-campus events for the purpose of evaluation and contact.
• Follow all NCAA and Concordia University Irvine's recruiting policies.
• Makes phone contact with all prospective student-athletes in coordination with NCAA Rules.
• Will be NCAA certified to recruit off Campus.

Team Administration:

• Follows CUI procedures in handling any monies that flow through the athletic program (Staff Handbook).
• Will organize and maintain all 25 live reservations for the Women's Basketball program. Including but not limited to home games, study halls, team meetings.
• Maintains effective and open communication with head coach about academic progress of team; monitors academic progress; in coordination with faculty, develops academic improvement strategies for athletes.
• Any additional duties assigned by the head coach

Full Time Staff, Non-Exempt

$24.50/hr
