The Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach provides support to the Head Coach in planning all phases of a Division I program. The candidate handles assisting with identifying and recruiting talented student-athletes. The Assistant Coach must be knowledgeable of all NCAA, CAA, and Hampton University Rules and Regulations.

Job Duties:

• Assist the head coach with practice preparation, plans and team supervision.
• Attend practice sessions, team meetings, and home and away contests.
• Demonstrates an explicit understanding of all NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
• Film review and breakdown after practices and games with the coaching staff and lacrosse players.
• Abides by all polices, practices and philosophies of the Intercollegiate Athletic Program and Hampton University
• Train student-athletes and manage all aspects of practices, games, and player development
• Foster an environment of academic excellence among all student-athletes through adherence to all departmental and University academic requirements (i.e., study hall, tutoring, etc.)
• Assist head coach with managing team managers
• Assist head coach with social media content creation and scheduling

• Maintain Hampton University, CAA, and NCAA compliance always;
• Manage team travel arrangements, perform administrative duties, and sound fiscal budgeting
• Coordinate the creation of competitive schedules annually
• Assist with facility care and maintenance
• Represent Hampton University, the Department of Athletics and the Men’s Lacrosse programs in a positive and professional manner
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity functions (i.e., simple grasping, repetitive motion and reaching overhead).
• Other duties assigned by the Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree with at least five years of work experience coaching lacrosse is required.
• Division I collegiate coaching experience or professional coaching experience is a plus.
• A strong commitment to the overall well-being of student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations is required.
• Candidate must possess strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of constituents.
• Candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of and compliance with the rules and regulations of Hampton University, CAA, and NCAA.
• The candidate must also demonstrate intense competition decision skills.
• Candidates must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Candidates must also have a valid driver’s license.
