Reporting to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, the incumbent assists with all activities related to the physical performance of student-athletes on Winthrop’s 16 Division I intercollegiate sports.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science or related.
Two years of full-time strength and conditioning experience in an intercollegiate athletics weight room.
Must possess Strength & Conditioning Coach Certification (SCCC) or be a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
CPR and AED certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Association or National Strength & Conditioning Association membership.
Experience working with women’s basketball student-athletes.

Job Summary
Assists in the design and development of specific training programs for assigned teams to maximize the physical strength, cardiovascular conditioning, and speed of each student-athlete.
Provides guidance during workouts to ensure proper use of equipment and safety.
Documents student-athlete progress and provides reports to coaches and individual student-athletes.
Develops off-season training programs for assigned sports.
Attends home and away athletic events as requested/needed.
Works with coaches of assigned sports on developing training programs specific to their sports.
Assists in maintaining the overall image, environment, and appearance of the weight room and equipment.
Assists head coach with all matters related to strength & conditioning area.
Assists in coordinating activities in conjunction with trainers and team physicians for required rehabilitative programming.
Utilizes most current techniques to help reduce injury while increasing strength, power, endurance, and body awareness.
Travel/Overtime Requirements
Ability to travel, including overnight, and work flexible hours.
License/Certification
SCCC or CSCS certification and CPR and AED certification
