SUMMARY

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a professional position responsible for assisting in the treatment of injuries for assigned student-athletes. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment when performing work. Reports to the Head Athletic Trainer.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, health, exercise science, or a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.

No direct experience is required. NATA Certification, Athletic Trainer licensure in Texas, and Instructor level certification in CPR and First Aid is required. Candidates without current Texas certification will be considered if certification can be obtained prior to start date.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Oversees the application of therapeutic modalities and treatments in the training room.
  2. Aids in the prevention of athletic injuries by administering preventative taping, purchasing and fitting special protective equipment, and maintaining safety conditions at practices and competitions.
  3. Designs, implements, and coordinates the rehabilitation program for players after surgery, with off-season injuries, or preventative exercise in response to pre-season screening results.
  4. Administers emergency procedures to injured athletes in assigned sports during practices and games.
