Job Summary:
The Director of Women’s Basketball Operations oversees the administrative and logistical aspects of the women’s basketball program.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Team Travel Coordination : Arranging transportation, accommodation, and meals for home and away games.
Practice and Game Scheduling: Organizing practice sessions and coordinating game schedules.
Budget Management: Managing the program’s budget, including expenses for travel, equipment, and other needs.
Recruitment Support: Assisting with the recruitment process, including organizing visits for prospective players.
Compliance: Ensuring the program adheres to NCAA regulations and other relevant guidelines.
Event Planning: Coordinating small and large scale events such as team banquets, alumni events, and fundraising activities.
Liaison Duties: Acting as a point of contact between the coaching staff, players, and other departments within the athletic organization and the university.
Administration: Coordinating any administrative items such as student schedules, expense reports, travel itineraries, membership registration and management, onboarding new staff and players, etc. as needed by the head coach.
Professional Administrative Support : Experience in administrative roles, especially within a sports program.
Coaching or Operations Experience : Previous experience in coaching or sports operations, particularly in basketball.
Bachelor’s Degree : Often in sports management, business administration, or a related field.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
NCAA Regulations : Understanding of NCAA rules and compliance requirements.
Basketball Operations : Familiarity with the logistics and management of a basketball program.
Budget Management : Knowledge of financial planning and budget management.
Organizational Skills : Ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules efficiently.
Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication abilities to interact with coaches, players, and other stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to address and resolve issues that arise in a dynamic environment.
Attention to Detail : Ensuring all aspects of operations are handled meticulously.
Leadership : Leading and coordinating efforts among staff and players.
Adaptability : Adjusting to changing circumstances and needs of the program.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree Collegiate Playing Experience : Experience as a collegiate athlete can be valuable.
