Head Softball Coach

The University of Mount Olive has an immediate opening for a full-time Head Softball Coach. This is a 10-month full-time position (August 1-May 31).

Responsibilities include:

• Organize and direct an NCAA Division II sports program.
• Recruit qualified student-athletes, meeting squad size goals, to field a competitive team.
• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, toward the goal of graduation, and facilitate positive behavior by student-athletes. Support academic requirements and life skill programming.
• Operate within the team budget and work to supplement the budget as necessary through fundraising. Follow institutional business procedures.
• Schedule athletic competitions with other intercollegiate teams, primarily within the region and Division II.
• Comply with NCAA, Conference, and College rules and regulations. Follow all institutional compliance procedures.
• Oversee conditioning and training programs, practices, and competitions.
• Promote and market the sports program. Assist with booster club membership campaigns and relations. Make public speaking appearances and be accessible to the media.
• Monitor and assist with the maintenance of practice, competition, and locker room facilities.
• Order and maintain appropriate equipment supplies, uniforms, and supplies for the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Specific experience in coaching, preferably at the college level, is required.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Ability to relate to student-athletes; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
